Thank you for taking a moment to find out more about me.
What separates me from other tutors is that I make tutoring genuinely enjoyable. Pupils feel at ease knowing their tutor not only understands how they think and how to relate to them, but also has real experience getting children through their GCSE Maths. I teach with direct, clear instruction — without the extra explanations that end up confusing young learners.
My approach works well for both lower and higher-achieving students because I get straight to the point and focus on material that's actually in the exam they'll sit. Students are exposed to real exam material early on, so there are no surprises once they reach Year 10 and 11.
I've been private tutoring for 6 years and have worked with over 200 pupils, with a strong track record of helping them achieve grade 4/5 and above in GCSE Mathematics. I map out exactly where a student is weak, which shapes the topics I cover and the resources I use with them.
Make the right choice for your child today — please don't hesitate to get in touch if you feel I could be of good help.
No filler lessons, no improvising on the spot. Every student follows a scheme of work sequenced to build toward the exam.
Pick Foundation or Higher tier and confirm your child's place.
One live 60-minute class a week — link sent in advance, no app installs needed.
Each week covers one connected topic, building from Number through to Statistics & Probability.
Regular check-ins on progress, with revision weeks built in before exams.
Every week has a planned topic that builds on the last — sequenced through Number, Algebra, Ratio & Proportion, Geometry, and Statistics.
Direct, clear instruction with no unnecessary explanations to confuse young learners — just the material that's actually in the exam.
Students see real exam material early on, so nothing feels unfamiliar by the time they reach Year 10 and 11.
5 years marking GCSE Maths papers means knowing exactly where marks are won and lost — that directly shapes what and how I teach.
Day/time, tier, and price are confirmed once I understand where your child's at — I go through all of it on a short call so I can recommend the right fit rather than a one-size-fits-all slot.
No obligation — it's a quick conversation about where your child is now and what they need.
"MJU is professional, kind, patient with a brilliant sense of humour. My daughter said they are the first maths lessons she has enjoyed in years. He gets straight into the teaching and uses every minute to get the best out of the time. We feel very fortunate to have found him."
"We are so happy to have found MJU. My daughter started her lessons in year 9 and is learning new skills and gaining knowledge each week. MJU has an excellent manner and makes the lesson enjoyable and informative. My daughter was predicted a grade 5 but has just finished her GCSEs achieving a grade 7! We would definitely recommend!"
"I found MJU last minute and he has been wonderful with helping my son prepare for his GCSE maths exams. My son said he spoke to him with understanding and gave useful information with problem solving ideas and reminded him where to find information. He also communicated very well with myself, I would definitely recommend MJU. Thank you once again."
"My son's confidence has been restored, he loves his lessons with MJU and is enjoying maths again."
This depends on tier and current availability, so I go through pricing and scheduling directly on a short intro call — that way you get an accurate answer for your child, not a generic number.
As a rough guide, Foundation tier targets grade 4–5, and suits students who need a solid grasp of core topics. Higher tier targets grade 7–9, for students already comfortable at grade 5+. If you're not sure, get in touch and I'll help you pick based on your child's current level.
You can request the material for the missed lesson and the student is expected to catch up on any work missed. Support is still provided if required.
